Sleep Hallow

Thanks to Teacher Nalani for showing the performing arts students how a storytelling performance is done!  She mesmerized them today with a portion of the tale of Sleep Hallow.

CHANGE OF PLANS!!!!

Next week is actually the core field trip and both teacher Isabelle and teacher Leiloni would love to attend that with their children.  Teacher Nalani has been gracious enough to allow the Performing Arts class to come and enjoy her amazing storytelling performance of "Sleepy Hallow" second hour so that Teacher Isabelle and Leiloni may attend the field trip.  Make sure that all performing arts students know to go to the Harried room on the main floor INSTEAD of going to the stage.
IF you have any questions please either ask Isabelle or Leiloni or reply to this blog post.
This also means that your young illusionists have an extra week to learn their magic trick if they want to share one with the class!

Makeup Magic

Yesterday we learned about stage makeup.  Each person was able to choose a character and get their face painted that way.  I was excited to see that they wanted to paint each other's faces.  I am sure that some of you saw the results at lunch but there is photo included for your enjoyment.
Next week we will be learning about the art of magic tricks and the students will be able to perform in front of a "small" audience.  If your child would like to, have them check out a magic book from the library and come with one trick to show the class!

Three girls in regular stage makeup, Taylor as pizza and Molly as an owl.

Get Into Character!

Today we learned about getting into character and changing our voices.
Everyone was able to choose a hat and then draw an emotion from the pile of cards and act it out.

Next week we will be learning about and making masks!
